Painted Desert Inn

Perched on the edge of the Painted Desert, this National Historic Landmark is one of the most striking buildings in the Southwest. Designed in the 1920s and restored by the Civilian Conservation Corps, the inn blends Pueblo Revival architecture with sweeping desert views. While it’s no longer an overnight lodge, it’s worth visiting for inspiration, photography, and a sense of what early park travel felt like.
