Who We Are

Meet the guy behind the website

Hiking through Joshua Tree

My name is Nate. Welcome.

I've spent the last 5 years brainstorming, researching, traveling and designing this website.

I’ve spent much of my life on the road. As a touring musician for over 25 years, travel has always been woven into who I am—and along the way, I fell deeply in love with America’s National Parks. What started as quick detours between shows slowly turned into something more meaningful: quiet mornings in desert light, long hikes through alpine air, and the kind of quiet you only find far from any road.

To date, I’ve visited 35 of the 63 U.S. National Parks, with several more already on the calendar for 2026. Along the way, I’ve learned that these places aren’t just destinations—they’re teachers. They slow us down, remind us how small we are, and somehow make us feel more grounded at the same time. That is why I absolutely love our national park system, and enjoy telling and showing people what they mean to me.

I’m a songwriter, designer, small business owner, and lifelong creative, and during the COVID shutdown season, I felt the pull to build something meaningful that brought all of those passions together. That’s when Visit Our National Parks was born—starting first with the logo, and then slowly growing into the website you’re exploring now.

Joshua Tree National Park holds a particularly special place in my heart. There’s a stillness and clarity there that I haven’t found anywhere else. In 2022, I purchased about 38 acres in the Mojave Desert with hopes of someday building a small, simple place to write, rest, and reflect. Until then, I continue traveling from my home in Florida, exploring new parks and revisiting old favorites like Saguaro, Crater Lake, Arches, Glacier, and Acadia.

This website is a labor of love.

This site is a labor of love—built to inspire exploration, make trip planning easier, and celebrate the incredible diversity of our public lands. If you’ve found it helpful, I’d love to hear from you. Feel free to reach out and share your favorite parks, memorable meals, unforgettable experiences, or even let me know if you spot something that needs fixing.

Thanks for being here, and I hope Visit Our National Parks inspires your next adventure!
